Opel’s fuel cell car may sell 20,000 units
Transportation, Aug 02 2011 (The Hydrogen Journal)
- Car manufacturer Opel, a subsidiary of General Motors, is working on a new fuel cell powered vehicle to launch at the end of 2016 or early 2017, according to Klaus Franz, Opel deputy chairman and the company's top labour official, quoted speaking to Automotive News Europe publication.
The car "may" come to market with an alternative powertrain such as a fuel cell.
"Already with our Ampera electric vehicle, we have shown what we are able to do and enjoy an advantage of two to three years compared to the competition," he is quoted as saying.
Mr Frans said he sees sales of 20,000 of the model annually as "realistic".
