Trulite new manufacturing facility in South Carolina
Production, Dec  27  2009 (The Hydrogen Journal)

- Trulite, a company which makes hydrogen fuel cell electricity generators and hydrogen canisters, is moving from El Dorado Hills, California, to South Carolina, to set up a new manufacturing facility, according to South Carolina news service "The State".

The electricity generators first produce hydrogen from a reaction between water and dry chemicals; the hydrogen is then put through a fuel cell to make electricity. They cost around $2,500 according to the article.

The company chief executive is quoted as saying that he has orders of "tens of thousands" of hydrogen generators, after making prototypes in California, and these generators call for "hundreds of thousands" of hydrogen storage cannisters.

According to the article, company executives first visited South Carolina for the National Hydrogen Association meeting in 2007. To entice the company to move, the company received grants of$750,000 from state and local governments and business groups. There was also an undisclosed loan from South Carolina Research Authority.

The move is anticipated to create up to 1,000 new jobs.
