Mazda ’does not plan electric vehicles’
Transportation, Jan  19  2009 (The Hydrogen Journal)

- Japanese car manufacturer Mazda has no plans to develop an electric vehicle, but will go straight to hydrogen vehicles, according to the Detroit News.

"We will not go somewhere unless its 'zoom-zoom,'", Jim O'Sullivan, president of Mazda North America, is quoted as saying.

'Zoom-zoom' is a catchphrase of Mazda, emphasising the sportiness of its products, the Detroit News says. Most of its cars have high performance engines.

Mazda is also developing an engine which can run on both gasoline and hydrogen, the Detroit News says.
